Magnetic phase transitions in Ba<sub>0.5</sub>Sr<sub>1.5</sub>Zn<sub>2</sub>Fe<sub>11.92</sub>Al<sub>0.08</sub>O<sub>22</sub> hexaferrites

Abstract We report studies on the effect of substituting magnetic Fe 3+ cations with nonmagnetic Al in Y-type hexaferrite Ba 0.5 Sr 1.5 Zn 2 11.92 0.08 O 22 powders their properties and especially phase transitions responsible for observing magnetoelectric effect. In this research, were synthesized by citric acid sol-gel auto-combustion. After auto-combustion process, precursor annealed at 1170 °C air to obtain materials. The effects substitution structural, microstructural content investigated detail using X-ray powder diffraction scanning electron microscopy. Hysteresis measurements performed a physical-property-measurement-system (PPMS) (Quantum Design) 4.2 K room temperature. Dc-magnetic temperature dependence magnetization fields 50 Oe, 100 Oe 500 used determine applying field magnetic-phase transitions. demonstrated that helical spin state can be modified further varying field.
